I’m currently doing some research on juvenile justice reform, and I came across the incredibly powerful images produced by photographer Richard Ross. These images detail the isolation experienced by kids in jail.

A description of this photo on Ross’s site reads: “The blood is on the wall because I hit my head against the wall, a couple of times because I was mad at the staff. They wouldn’t get me out of this smock. —B.H., age 17”
The entire photo series–as well as other series about fallout shelters and prisons around the world–is amazing and well worth perusing.
